The Forth Rivers Trust, working with the Forth District Salmon Fishery Board has secured nearly £60,000 worth of funding from the LEADER Rural Development Fund to boost awareness of fishing opportunities around the Forth.
Fishing in the Forth is a brand new project developed in conjunction with fishery owners and angling clubs to raise awareness of the great fishing opportunities across all of the Forth’s rivers.
This project will benefit not just the clubs and fisheries but also anglers looking to find out more information on fishing opportunities around the Forth. An online hub will be created to act as a source of information on fishing opportunities across the Forth with fishing news, opportunities and events from clubs and fisheries promoted. The hub will also direct people to further information if clubs or fisheries have their own websites and also offer an online permitting function for some fisheries.
The focus of the hub will be game fishing in rivers which flow into the Forth estuary/Firth of Forth but as the project progresses, other opportunities may be offered such as coastal sea trout fishing and more.
The project will be delivered over the next 12 months by the Forth Rivers Trust on behalf of the Forth DSFB with support from the clubs and fisheries involved. The hub is hoped to be up and running for the 2020 fishing season with new social media channels created and promoting fisheries news and events from around the Forth.

This project is being funded by the European Community LEADER 2014-2020 programme through a Cooperation grant which includes Tyne Esk, Forth Valley & Lomond, Kelvin Valley and Falkirk and West Lothian LEADER Action Groups.
